What is Music Bingo?
Music Bingo combines music trivia with the age-old format of bingo! It was created by Sean Constable in 1998. With the help of Lonny Bastien and Troy Rico whom Sean met in the YEP program (Young Entrepeneurs Program-put on by the Canadian Government)
Music Bingo is played in bars, pubs, legions, hotels, cruise ships, corporate parties and anywhere karaoke can be played.
How do I win a trip to Las Vegas?
In the lower mainland of British Columbia, some venues participate in our Las Vegas program. In these bars, once a year, all first place winners get a chance to play one game of Music Bingo for a trip for two to Las Vegas.
Music Bingo holds a junket each year, where we take the winners, Music Bingo hosts and now thesome of the venue staff to Las Vegas for a week of partying and fun. Trips usually leave on Monday and come back on Friday. Non-winners cna purchase trips thru Music Bingo and be a part of the fun which will include a pool party, VIP party and a meet n greet with Carrot Top! The next junket is scheduled for September 2012.
What are the rules?
The rules of music bingo may vary from region to region depending on which company holds the Music Bingo rights. Digital Impact works with other Dj's and companies that wish to provide the game in their area.
For any venue running with the Digital Impact game the rules are as follows;
1-We award a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (in most cases) to the first person the host hears yell bingo that has a correct bingo.
It is NOT the first person that runs up to the host (we try to avoid accidents!!) Tournament rules are different and enforced during tournaments here the prizes are bigger and more expensive. They are as follows;
1-MUST BE HERE TO PLAY-You must have your name on the list AND be present to play. Friends, family and enemies cannot play for you UNLESS prior authorization has been given. This means BEFORE we arrive at the venue to run the tournament. All Music Bingo weekly winners are asked to leave their name, phone number and email. Provided we can read this-if you are eligible to play for the grand prize we WILL send you an email AND call you to notify you. Remember we cannot contact you if you DO NOT WRITE LEGIBLY or change your phone number/email address!
2-FIRST TO YELL BINGO-We go with the FIRST PERSON WE HEAR yell bingo THAT has a CORRECT bingo AND whose name appears on our list. Grand prize eligible winners receive a specially marked card to play-the first person with a specially marked card who meets the above requirements will win the grand prize.
3-THREE STRIKE RULE-Players are allowed to miss call BINGO three times. Once they have miss called bingo a third time they are no longer eligible to win the grand prize. This rule is applied to keep players from just yelling BINGO to be the first to yell bingo. We try to reward players that play frequently and know the music clips or the players that recognize the song on the first beat instead of having to hear the lyrics.
4-BINGO OFF-if the host cannot determine who was the first player to call bingo-the players who were deemed to be tied will play a bingo off. For the championship new cards will be issued and the winner will be the player that gets to three correct dabs first. If both players have three at the same time then it goes to the first player to have one more than the other (4-3, 5-4 etc) This is NOT a FIRST PERSN TO YELL game. If the tie is NOT for the GRAND PRIZE then the player to get the NEXT song will be awarded the third or second place prize.
5-NO HELP-the host CANNOT help anyone. DO NOT ASK!! The ONLY help that can be given is over the microphone so everyone has a chance to hear it. If your card is wrong, the host cannot tell you where it is wrong, you will have to accept it and ask at the end of the game if you are still unsure.
6-GOD IS A DJ-this means that host has the final say in any and all disputes.
Is there an age limit to play?
NO! If you can read, understand the lyrics or know your music you can play! In BC most venues are in bars where you have to be 19 or older to get in, but in Ontario we are in many establishments that have welcome children. In Courtney BC, Applebees will be starting Music Bingo in July 2011 and families with younger children will be able to play. We often bring children's prizing or Toys R Us Gift certificatesfor kids to win instead of the usual venue gift certificates.
Do I have to pay to play?
NO NEVER. You should NEVER pay to play Music Bingo. The venue's supply Music Bingo to its patrons free of charge.
